Why Dentures?
- Dentures are removeable custom-made prosthetic teeth that are designed using professional expertise to replace several or all missing teeth. Dentures are removable and allow patients to regain their ability to eat, speak and improve the appearance of mouth and face. They are crafted and fitted to an individual’s gums for stability and may be either complete or partial dentures depending on the needs of the patient.
What is the Denture Procedure?
- Generally, dentures are fabricated when teeth are missing or extracted. Dentures may be placed after your mouth has heeled from the loss of teeth or immediately if your natural teeth have been removed.
- Dentures take several appointments with our dentists before you receive them in order to ensure that your dentures fit and function properly and allow you comfort while wearing them.
- Our office will provide you with instructions on how to properly care for your dentures to keep them in good condition. We will also check your dentures at each regular appointment to make sure that they are still comfortable and functioning optimally.
How Long Will My Dentures Last?
- On average dentures last 5-10 years. Please check with your dentist to make sure they fit you properly if you have been wearing them longer than 10 years and/or have discomfort.
What Should I Use to Keep My Dentures Clean?
- It is not recommended to use toothpaste because toothpaste contains chemicals. We recommend specifically designed denture cleanser, such as Polident or Efferdent.
