What are Inlays and Onlays?
- Inlays and Onlays are also referred to as partial crowns, which are custom made to preserve the natural tooth structure. These treatments are generally made from porcelain, resin, or gold. To place the inlays and onlays it typically requires 2 appointments:
- 1) to prepare and take the impressions
- 2) attaching the restoration.
Will I feel the Inlays and Onlays?
- Once they are bonded, they are virtually unnoticeable.
Is There a Difference Between Inlays and Onlays?
- An inlay is suggested when the damage to the teeth has not reached the pointed tips of the tooth (the cusps).
- An Onlay is suggested when the damage to the tooth has affected one or more cusps.
