When Should Children Start Seeing a Dentist?
- A Child should start seeing a dentist as soon as they have teeth in their mouth and at the latest when they are 12 months old.
What Does the First Dental Appointment Involve?
- The purpose of the initial appointment is to simply check on the health of the teeth and to educate the parent on carrying out proper oral hygiene at home as well as nutritional counseling. Each child will be assigned a risk level, and our optimal goal is to get every child into a low risk level thus increasing the chances they don’t require more invasive dental care.

The more often children come for regular checkups, the more comfortable they will be with dental care, the less likely they will need more invasive treatments and the more likely that they will continue these important habits as they grow older.
