What is Invisalign®?

Many people don’t want crooked teeth but put off fixing it because they don’t want to deal with metal braces for months or even years.

Fortunately, Invisalign® offers an option that can get you the smile you want without uncomfortable and prominent braces on your teeth.

Invisalign® uses clear and comfortable aligners, virtually invisible to the naked eye but just as effective as traditional braces.

How Does Invisalign® Work?

Your dentist will take a quick and precise 3D scan of your teeth to create a simulation of your possible treatment outcome so that you can visualize all the changes and really capture a sense of the improvmenets to your smile, occlusion, and overall oral health. Using the image, we then request a series of customized trays to align your teeth over several months progressively.

You’ll be required to wear each set of aligners for approximately two weeks before replacing it with the next batch. The patient must also visit the doctor periodically for review and progress checks.

You are also free to remove your Invisalign® clear aligners while eating; however, wearing them for at least 20-22 hours each day is advised.

Invisalign® Benefits

Misaligned teeth can affect your self-image and result in low self-esteem and poor confidence. So, whether you have crooked teeth, overbite, underbite, gap teeth, or an open bite, Invisalign® is a valuable treatment that will bring a healthy smile.

If you want to boost your confidence and self-esteem, the journey to transform your smile should start with the procedure. The unfortunate truth is that traditional braces can make you even more self-conscious about your smile during your treatment. As a result, many people end up living with dental problems that could be easily managed through treatment.

Fortunately, Invisalign® provides an option that allows you to get a healthy smile without the discomfort and self-consciousness associated with braces. Invisalign® clear aligners are made of medical-grade polyurethane resin, which is practically invisible. Every aligner is also custom fit for each tooth to slowly fit into place.

Here are a few benefits of Invisalign® Clear Braces:
  • It makes oral hygiene easier.
  • Invisalign® braces are comfortable.
  • Clear aligners are removable.
  • Invisalign® technology allows you to eat and drink anything you like.
  • It boosts your self-confidence.
  • Clear aligners require fewer dental visits.
  • You’ll enjoy a shorter treatment period.

What Does Invisalign® Cost?

Each patient has a unique set of teeth and smile, as does the alignment cost. In addition, the cost of Invisalign® varies based on several factors, including the complexity of the procedure. However, as you attend the initial consultation with a dentist, you will better understand how much the Invisalign® treatment will cost.

We will also review the payment options, including acceptable dental insurance plans to help you achieve a healthy smile as affordable as possible.

In some cases, dental insurance may cover the costs associated with Invisalign® treatment. We will review all of your payment options with you and determine whether your insurance has orthodontic coverage and if you are eligible for those benefits.

We also offer NO INTEREST PAYMENT Plan options to help you get the smile you want and deserve.

Is Invisalign® Painful?

One of the significant advantages of Invisalign® is the ability to correct teeth defects comfortably compared to other orthodontic treatments. Unlike traditional braces that require forcible tightening, visible aligners do not need adjustment, explaining their comfort.

Even so, you might feel mild pain and soreness in the first few days; an over-the-counter painkiller can usually alleviate the discomfort.

How Can I Take Good Care of My Aligners?

Invisalign® clear aligners are less mechanical and not as intrusive compared to traditional braces, which simplifies the cleaning process.

Here are a few benefits of Invisalign® Clear Braces:
  • Maintaining general oral hygiene
  • Use lukewarm water to rinse the clear aligners every night
  • Rinse your mouth thoroughly after brushing your teeth with toothpaste
  • Avoid cleaning the aligners with hot water as they can damage the plastic
  • Use the protective case to store the aligners when not in use
  • Clean the aligners with a soft-bristled brush to remove food particles
  • Soak your aligners in Hydrogen peroxide

What Happens After Invisalign®?

After you’ve completed all sets of clear aligners, you’ll need to come in for an appointment. Your dentist will confirm if your treatment has been effective and offer tips and instructions to preserve your new smile. You’ll also need to wear a retainer after your treatment to ensure that your teeth remain in their new alignment. Your teeth may return to their original position if you don’t wear the retainers nightly as advised.

How Long Does Invisalign® Treatment Take?

On average, it takes 6-18 months to complete the Invisalign® treatment. On the other hand, metal braces can take up to two years to achieve quality results. The duration of your treatment will be based on several factors, including the severity of dental misalignment. The process can take less than six months if you have a mild misalignment.

Here are the factors that determine the length of Invisalign® treatment:

The Severity of Your Teeth Misalignment

If your teeth have a complex alignment, they may need additional aligners. The treatment process may take more time.

Additional Accessories

Most of the time, standard treatment will provide the results you expect. However, if your case is complicated, you may need elastics and refinement, thus increasing treatment time.

Patient Compliance

For optimal outcome and the quickest treatment time you must wear your aligners as directed for 20-22 hours/day. If you don’t wear the aligners correctly that will slow your case down and often lead to the need for additional aligners.

What Orthodontic Issues Can Invisalign® Fix?

Invisalign® resolve many dental problems and can help correct the following misalignment issues in some patients.

Crooked teeth
Underbite
Overbite
Crossbite
Open Bite
Crowded teeth
Gaps between teeth
Rotated teeth

Does Invisalign® Have Any Age Limitations?

Any adult can use Invisalign® if they’re not struggling with advanced gum/periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is linked with a weak jawbone, so it’s crucial to get the problem under control to avoid further damage. On the other hand, kids can undergo Invisalign® treatment once they have all the permanent teeth in place.

What Happens if I Lose an Aligner?

If you lose or damage your current aligner, keep the previous set. Then, alert your doctor’s office; however, in the meantime, wear the last set as you wait for a replacement.

Can You Eat During Invisalign® Treatment?

Always remove the Invisalign® clear aligners before you eat. Although aligners are strong and durable, eating with them on your teeth can result in cracked or otherwise damaged trays. Be sure to store them in their designated case anytime you remove them to make sure you don’t lose them and keep them safe.

What are Invisalign® Attachments?

Invisalign® attachments, also known as dental attachments or aligner attachments, are small tooth-colored dots, ridges, or bumps made of dental composite material. They are bonded to specific teeth during the Invisalign® treatment process. The purpose of these attachments is to help the aligners apply the right amount of force to move the teeth into their desired positions more effectively.

Invisalign® attachments serve as anchor points for the aligners, providing a better grip and control over tooth movement. They are strategically placed on specific teeth based on the treatment plan designed by your dentist. The shape and location of the attachments are unique to each individual’s treatment needs.

These attachments are virtually invisible and blend in with the teeth, just like the aligners themselves. They are usually removed once the Invisalign® treatment is complete. In some cases, attachments may be necessary throughout the entire treatment, while in others, they may only be required for a certain period.

It’s important to note that not all Invisalign® cases require attachments. Your dentist will determine whether or not you need attachments based on the complexity of your tooth movements and treatment goals.

Does Invisalign® or SmileDirectClub Cost More?

If you’re looking into straightening your teeth and getting a healthy smile, you may have come across ads for SmileDirectClub. SmileDirectClub is a do-it-yourself clear aligner treatment option that costs less than Invisalign®, but it’s important to be aware of the fact that SmileDirectClub involves little or even know dental oversight.

If things go wrong with do-it-yourself orthodontic treatment, you will have to pay a dental professional to fix it. In fact, you may end up spending more than you would have had if you had started with a professional in the first place. By going with dentist-supervised Invisalign® treatment from the outset, you can ensure that you get the results you want the first time around and avoid unnecessary and expensive orthodontic problems.
